FLYERS & POSTERS
A Collection of Flyers & Posters from Various Events
Amtrak Metropolitan Lounge Karen Margolis Installation
Art at Amtrak, the official public art program of Amtrak, presents diverse, unique and memorable art projects to enhance, invigorate and humanize the travel experience at Amtrak stations. The art program reflects and celebrates each region's creative preeminence by featuring contemporary artists through rotating exhibitions.
The program launched at New York Penn Station in June 2022, and expanded to Moynihan Train Hall in July 2023, and to Washington Union Station and William H. Gray III 30th Street Station in Fall 2023.
Signage is extremely important when promoting these installations and events. Moynihan Train Hall house the Metropolitan Lounge which acts as a space for first class passengers to relax, eat, and drink while waiting for trains.

MJN Convention Center Poker Tournament
For a time, I was being contracted out to the MJN Center in Poughkeepsie, NY, which hosts several events year round. Using my skills, I worked on many projects for them, including creating a flyer and accompanying social media assets for a poker tournament.
This flyer went through several variations, until the clients landed on this more masculine and clean design. They very much wanted a color scheme of gold and black to convey a sense of luxury. Using a textured clipping mask helped in making the gold of the playing card come to life.
To complete the set of deliverables, I included various Facebook and Instagram sized assets. The image below would be used in the case of a Facebook Event cover.
Here are examples of the initial concept and design, which included all four suits of playing cards, as well as a less pronounce golden ombre. The client wanted a less feminine typeface.

Saint George Antiochian Orthodox Church Festival
Being a member of the Saint George Antiochian Orthodox Church, I am always obliged to help with my skillset. For the annual summer festival of 2024, I decided to incorporate past design elements into this simple and colorful flyer for St. George.
Inspired by the elements and symbols used in a previous flyer, including the three balloons, game spinner, and "big top", my current design tones down the carnival-like poster of the past. Swapping out the circus tent for something more similar to the tent that actually stands next to the church makes the design incredibly personal.
The language on the flyer stays the same year to year, and was something I was trying to fight through, continually trying to come up with clever ideas to completely change the layout. I learned that sticking to what the people know and recognize worked in my favor more than trying to be vastly different.
I always like to deliver social media assets, no matter the client. It creates clear connection between platforms, and lends to recognizable branding for the event.
These images include my design for the 2021 summer festival, as well as the previously used festival flyer which inspired the current one.
